The anime version of “Osmosis Jones”, which we all know as Cells at Work! is ready to tell another story. This one further gets into the human anatomy and tells the story of a new group of cells.
On Tuesday, the fifth issue of Kodansha’s Evening magazine revealed that a new manga series, titled “Cells at Work! Muscle” will be launched on February 16. It will be serialized online on Kodansha’s Morning Two website. The manga will be written and illustrated by Yu Maeda.
The new manga series will focus on the muscle cells of the body.
Kodansha will also publish the first chapter of Cells at Work! Muscle in the sixth issue of the Evening magazine on February 28. It will also be the final issue of Evening.
Prior to this, many more spinoff Cells at Work! manga have been launched, with most of them also being published in English. Among the latest spinoffs, Akari Otokawa and Shigemitsu Harada’s Cells at Work! Lady ended its serialization in September 2022.
About Cells at Work!
The Cells at Work! (Hataraku Saibo) manga by Akane Shimizu was published in the Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine from January 2015 to January 2021. It was adapted into an anime series in 2018. Several spinoffs have also been launched by other artists, with one getting adapted into an anime series.
It shows the processes inside the human body from the perspective of cells. The main protagonists are a red blood cell and a white blood cell as they work every day to keep the body in working condition.
Many other cells and their daily jobs are also introduced and the threats to the body like viruses are portrayed as villains.
