Knights of the Zodiac is one of the most popular anime on Netflix, as it is the perfect mix of knighthood and action.
The anime is perfect for Greek mythology/astrology fans and has a great and unique storyline. One thing that always confuses the fans is the ending of the anime.
In this article, I’m here to drive that confusion away as I explain the ending of Knight of the Zodiac or ‘Saint Seiya’; let’s get into it!
1. What exactly happens in the end?
A face-off between Pegasus Seiya and Phoenix Nero marks the series’ end. The fight is quickly ended with no winners as it is interrupted by Sienna’s transformation.
Sienna, the reincarnated form of Athena, loses control of her powers and begins to embrace all of Athena’s Cosmo. Seiya jumps in to help, and Sienna regains her consciousness and takes control of her Cosmo.
2. Sienna’s Transformation: What Does it Mean?
Sienna’s transformation into Athena is a significant plot point in the series, considering the entire series centers on Sienna’s growing power.
To prevent Sienna from waking Athena’s complete Cosmo, the Kido created unique technology, although it was limited to their home. As soon as Sienna escaped the bound area, she entered the transformation stage. Seiya tried to stop Sienna from fully transforming into Athena and destroying the planet and succeeded.
For a brief moment, the character possessed the staff, the long purple hair, and the white clothing of Athena. Although Sienna was still in charge of her body, specific characteristics were irreversible. This explains why, at the film’s end, Sienna had purple hair.
She was also able to utilize her Cosmo to heal her mother’s wounds and reconstruct her arms. The reincarnated Athena also possesses improved control of her powers.
This transformation sets the stage for future stories centered on the missing Bronze Saints, which increases the chances of there being a ‘Knights Of The Zodiac 2.’
3. About Saint Seiya
Saint Seiya, also known as Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac or simply Knights of the Zodiac, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masami Kurumada.
The manga was adapted into an anime television series by Toei Animation that ran from 1986 to 1989, before being continued in the form of three original video animation series between 2002 and 2008.
The story follows five mystical warriors called the Saints who fight wearing sacred sets of armor named “Cloths”.
The Saints have sworn to defend the reincarnation of the Greek goddess Athena in her battle against other Olympian gods who want to dominate Earth.
