1. Episode 9 Preview & Speculation
Somehow Wa Lin’s arrival felt like a good omen for Zhao’s army after the demise of Wan Ji. What a woman of strong character! Even Li Mu recognized her clever brain after hearing her strategy of taking over Hangu Pass.
The scene where Xin accidentally kisses Liao was hilarious. Though there was no reaction from Xin’s side after the incident, Liao seemed awkward around him. I’m curious about her feelings for Xin now.
I strongly feel that Cheng Hui’s entry into the battlefield with his army will be a strong challenge for Qin’s army. With his cunning strategies and immense knowledge about poisoned weaponry, he will for sure give a hard time to his enemies.

Episode 9 of the Kingdom (2021) anime, titled “Meng Wu’s Declaration”, has been released on Monday, May 31, 2021.

3. Episode 8 Recap
A reporter reports at Xianyang that Hangu pass is standing strong, and they have dogged the defense. He reveals to the royal court members that Wan Ji also got killed in the battle.
On hearing that Wan Ji was killed by battalion commander Xin of Fei Xin force, Qin doesn’t look happy.
Meanwhile, at Xin’s army camp site, Xin seems zoned out. Everyone discusses how he should be happy after killing an enemy general, but he is not. Suddenly a hand pushes Xin off, making him fall. He accidentally falls on Liao and kisses her.
It is then revealed that the hand that pushed Xin was of Wang Qi as he came there to celebrate. He pours wine in a large bowl and drinks it as a celebration for victory. Wang Qi praises Xin for commanding 10,000 troops at the rear.
Wang Qi offers Xin 300 of his own men to replace 300 men that Xin lost from his army. He also offers two of his 500-man squadrons to help him out. Meanwhile, in the Zhao dynasty, Li Mu mourns the loss of Wan Ji as his very existence was helpful in many ways.
Li Mu is surprised to hear that Xin was the one who killed Wan Ji. He is immensely shocked to hear how much Xin has developed during the war. Meanwhile, Zhao soldiers cremate the body of Wan Ji while chanting “death to the qin army!”
The following morning, Li Mu decides to send the second Chu army, first lead by general Wa Lin. As soon as she arrives in front of the soldiers, she calls for Lu Jin and kicks him in the face.
She announces that her army will not mobilize for the day and commands Lu Jin to fight independently.
She further says that if he does not manage to kill general Teng of Qin, she will behead every soldier present there. While the first army battles with the Qin army in the field, Wa Lin yawns and watches from a distance. A soldier reports this to Li Mu.
Han Ming arrives and confronts Wa Lin. He asks for a concise explanation for not mobilizing the second army. Wa Lin replies that this is a strategy to take Hangu Pass.
Meanwhile, a soldier delivers Wa Lin’s message to Li Mu. She asks to let the other armies continue their mediocre fight, and in ten days, Hangu Pass will be theirs.
Day 2 sees none of the huge battle upsets of the first day. Armies kept fighting on every battlefield, chipping away at each other forces as offense and defense were no more. Day 3 passes in the same way.
On the morning of the seventh day, the commanding general of Han, Cheng Hui, makes a move against the Qin army. He shoots a poisoned arrow at Zhao soldier. Cheng’s army then targets Zhang Tang, and the episode ends here.
