Immediately after the civilians got charged to save their nation, the army started distributing armors and weapons among them.
The tables turned when Liao Diao realized that the castle would be defenseless from one side with only four commanders, but a ray of hope arrived when Jie Yi came there with reinforcements.
Soon afterward, Li Mu also arrived with his troops, and the war between the two nations started straight off.

Episode 20 Preview & Speculation
The Zhao Army Brigade Commander, Fu Di, revealed that some of their troops haven’t reached the battlefield yet and might not be there before 3-4 days.
On the other hand, the soldiers on Qin’s side rapidly increased after High Commander Changping’s aide, Jie Yi, arrived with reinforcements.
This clearly means that unlike before, the number of Qin’s soldiers surpasses the number of Zhao’s soldiers now. Although more than half of the Qin’s soldiers are inexperienced, it looks like Zheng has something up his sleeves that will help defeat the enemies.
The next episode will mark the onset of the Qin vs. Zhao war again, and I look forward to seeing the clever battle between the two kingdoms.

Episode 20 of the Kingdom (2021) anime, titled “The First Night”, has been released on Monday, Sep 06, 2021.
Since this anime runs on a weekly schedule, new episode releases are seven days apart.

Episode 19 Recap
As the people of Zui learn about the true identity of the warrior standing in front of them, they kneel down to pay respect to King Ying Zheng and apologize for giving up so soon. Zheng steps forward and starts to address the people of Zui in a booming voice.
He tells people that their ancestors shed their blood to establish the Qin kingdom, and if they decide to surrender, all their struggles will go in vain. He then asks people to choose between becoming slaves for another kingdom for generations or fighting for their kingdom.
Suddenly, a young boy stands up and announces to fight in order to keep his family safe. When Ying Zheng praises his courage and reveals that he will be fighting alongside them, the people of Zui stand one by one and decide to fight.
Without any delay, the distribution of armors and weapons among civilians starts. Meanwhile, Liao Diao realizes that with only four commanders and four gates, one wall is left open, as she will be in the center.
Zheng offers to do the job, but Liao Diao refuses as it’s too risky. Suddenly, High Commander Changping’s aide, Jie Yi, arrives with a hundred troops. Everyone takes their position with Lord Changwen on the west wall, Bi on the east wall, Jie Yi on the north wall, and Shin on the south wall.
Shortly afterwards, Li Mu and Pang Nuan arrived with 30,000 troops. On seeing the castle entirely surrounded by armed soldiers, Li Mu realizes that Zheng has armed the civilians. He steps forward and attempts to discourage the civilians into giving up, but his plan fails.
With no other option left, Li Mu commands his soldiers to march. As the flying arrows start hitting the civilians, they sit down to save themselves, but Zheng asks them not to give up so soon. Just then, Zhao soldiers start climbing the castle with ladders.
