Maron comes to know that the emperor is coming out to meet them in person with tens of thousands of soldiers in tow. He freaks out over what the emperor is going to do to them, whatever it is, it can’t be good.
He quickly assembles Kokuou, Rin Gyoku, and all the strongest clans. The emperor’s side receives the message that Kanki’s men want to meet at the northwestern plains. Hearing this, Sei asks his men to spread out their ranks.
As they meet, Kanki greets the emperor sitting with his legs up on the table. Sei doesn’t mind much as he isn’t here to exchange pleasantries.
He asks Kanki why he massacred all those prisoners, to which he casually replies,” no reason.” He just felt like killing them, and so he did.
Sei tells him his answers aren’t good enough and that depending on what he says next, there might be a beheading, Kanki’s.
Kanki still refuses to give a concrete answer, following which Sei orders his beheading. Kokuou jumps in to save a man who isn’t interested in being saved. Maron jumps in to explain the killings.
He says they had to kill them because their numbers, even after defeat, were so high that if they decided to rally together, the Qin army would lose.
Sei doesn’t think it’s a proper excuse considering they didn’t necessarily need to kill everyone, and they’ve been killing innocents for years now.
Kanki counters that if it is such a bad thing, the emperor is the most guilty of them all with the most blood on his hands since he’s the one who started this invasion in the first place.
