Shin found it difficult to keep with his giant opponent and encouraged himself by remembering how he used to fight with the sword.
He then realized that he should make his whole body move faster and started to attack Gakuhaku with his full speed, surprising everyone.
Meanwhile, Akakin decided to charge into the enemy’s rear army with his troops to buy some more time for Shin at the cliff.

1. Chapter 689 Discussions and Predictions
It was great to see Shin using his sword after a long time. It seems like Gakuhaku’s end is near, which is very likely because Shin has discovered a lot about his martial art skills.

Meanwhile, Akakin’s unit is being followed by the Zhao troops in the jungle. Akakin finds the enemy’s rear army and realizes that if they get swallowed by them, Hi Shin Unit won’t be able to hold out at the cliff. He tells his soldiers to charge so the Hi Shin Unit will get some time.
As Shin fights with Gakuhaku with his sword, Gakuhaku commands Choukou to bring over his moon blade. He tells Shin that the decision to let go of his glaive was a wise one.
He adds that his sword is the ideal weapon to bring out his technique’s full potential and asks if Shin can keep up. Shin remembers how he used to fight with the sword and tells himself to go ahead.
He fiercely starts to attack Gakuhaku and even increases his speed, but getsinjured by Gakuhaku. He then realizes that he should not rely solely on the sword and make his whole body move faster.
Suugen observes the fight and murmurs that Shin is creating his own martial art skills through self-discipline. Shin’s soldiers are stunned by his unique self-taught swordsmanship skills.
In the end, Bihei comments that their captain became a general because of his dedication to the sword.
