Made In Abyss anime studio, Kinema Citrus is producing new works to commemorate its 15th anniversary. Anime Central’s 2024 Chicago convention held a special panel for Kinema Citrus on Saturday, May 18, 2024. During this event, the anime production studio unveiled two new original anime projects under the works, one of them being Goodbye, Lara.

Following the announcement, Kinema Citrus opened an official website for Goodbye, Lara, to share the concept trailers and staff details. The PV has also been released for the original anime. The visuals feature the protagonist and other important characters for the new anime series, while the PV gives fans a glimpse into the storyline.
Goodbye, Lara is a modern-day Japanese version of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale The Little Mermaid. The story revolves around a mermaid who makes the forbidden wish to be loved by a human. After her death, the mermaid is reborn 200 years later in modern-day Japan in Lake Biwa, where she learns to adjust to the human world.

Even though the official visual and teaser trailer were released, no information about the cast or potential release date for the anime has been released. More details regarding the Goodbye, Lara anime will be revealed later. As of now, the production for these two projects is in progress, as the pilot videos confirmed.
