Bocchi’s Kessoku Band Tops Weekly Billboard Japan Download Album Chart
The self-titled album of the fictional Kessoku band from the Bocchi the Rock! anime soared to the top of Billboard Japan’s weekly chart for the most downloaded album. The band debuted at the top of the December 21-28 chart, on the day of the album’s release.
The album includes the songs from the anime, including “Guitar, Solitude, and the Blue Planet“, “Seishun Complex,” “Distortion!!,” and others.
The Kessoku Band is the main unit band of the Bocchi the Rock! series. The band’s members include Hitori Gotah, who is the lead guitarist and lyricist; the drummer Nijika Ijichi, the bas player Ryo Yamada, and the vocalist Ikuyo Kita.
The Bocchi the Rock! anime is based on the four-panel manga by Aki Hamaji. The plot revolves around Hitori Gotou, a high schooler who is learning how to play the guitar. She dreams of being a lead guitarist in a band but is shy and finds it difficult to make friends.
Nijika Ijichi on the other hand is a drummer who is also looking to start a band, and is a lot more outgoing and social. A friendship begins to blossom between them as they form a band and invite others to be a part of it.
The Bocchi the Rock! manga was originally serialized in 2017.
