As Koga begins to enter the stage, we see a flashback of Kazuo and Rin in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where their eyes catch a well-renowned dojo named “The Silva Jiu-Jitsu Dojo,” and we get the history of Silva Jiu-Jitsu. It was started by The Silva Family, who learned judo from a Japanese immigrant to Brazil and improved it.
It was based on Silva but turned into a competitive sport with the self-defense element removed. The two are often referred to interchangeably, but they are distinct in their own right.
