John Wick star Keanu Reeves reveals details about the release of Ballerina. The all-new John Wick spinoff will release next year after John Wick: Chapter 4. Reeves has confirmed that he will reprise his role as Boogeyman in Ballerina alongside Ana de Armas.
While it is easy to think that the events of Ballerina will take place after John Wick: Chapter 4 due to their release timings, John Wick has said otherwise.
In a recent appearance at CCXP (via HyperOmelete), Reeves confirmed that Ballerina has already started filming, and its events will take place between John Wick: Chapter 3 and John Wick: Chapter 4.

Ballerina follows an assassin hunting down people to avenge the murder of her family.
Ana De Armas will be playing the character named Rooney, the Ballerina. Previously played by Unity Phelan, she also appeared in John Wick: Chapter 3 during a scene where Wick meets the Director.
The film is directed by Len Wiseman, with a screenplay by Emerald Fennell and Shay Hatten. While Hatten was also a part of John Wick: Chapter 3 and the upcoming John Wick: Chapter 4, Wiseman is a newcomer to this franchise.
Wiseman is known chiefly for movies like Die Hard and Live Free. He also directed the 2012 Total Recall remake starring Kate Beckinsale, Colin Farrell, and Jessica Biel. Ballerina will be Len Wiseman’s comeback into the movie world after taking a hiatus since the filming of Total Recall.
Besides Keanu Reeves as John Wick, Houston, Ian McShane, and Lance Reddick will also be coming back as The Director, William Scott and Charon, respectively.
It is still unclear whether John Wick’s role will be full-fledged or just a cameo. The best guess is the former one since so many canon series characters are also coming back.
Ballerina is slated to be this franchise’s first of many scheduled spin-offs. Another spin-off series, The Continental, starring Mel Gibson and Colin Woodell, will also premiere on Peacock TV soon.
But that is a long way to go. Till that time, save your dates for John Wick: Chapter 4, releasing exclusively in theaters on March 24, 2023.
