The Boys star Karl Urban confirms the date set for the beginning of the filming of The Boys Season 4.
The actor, playing fan-favorite Billy Butcher since The Boys Season 1, has shared the start date for filming sometime in August, aiming for a 2023 release for the upcoming season. The show was renewed for a fourth season only a week after Season 3’s premiere, and this update followed before the end of the third season.
The Boys, debuting its first season in 2019, has built a massive fanbase in these three years. Series regulars starring alongside Karl Urban are Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko, Antony Starr as Homelander, Erin Moriarty as Starlight/Annie, and more.
With 7 out of 8 episodes of Season 3 out, and the finale remaining, the latest season of the superhero series boasts some new additions to the cast. The new additions include Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, Laurie Holden as Crimson Countess, Sean Patrick Flanery’s Gunpowder, and Nick Wechsler as Blue Hawk.
The third season has already added in some mind-blowing new storylines. Billy joins the superpower category, Soldier Boy makes his return on the field, Kimiko temporarily loses her powers, Victoria Neuman is Stan Edgar’s adopted daughter, and Annie’s public disapproval of Vought – these are just some highlights of the latest surprises in Season 3.
With the finale looming over the heads of the fans, with possible deaths and compulsory action, Season 4’s update couldn’t have come at a better time.
In Collider’s interview with Karl Urban, the actor comments on the excitement surrounding the upcoming season and the date for filming to begin.
We’re starting, I think, August the 22nd, and we’re going to be starting season four. So, I’m getting back, getting my Butcher back on, and I can’t wait. It’s a fun gang to play with, we work hard and play hard, and I can’t wait to see where they take the characters from where we leave them at the end of this season.

Other than the filming date, little to nothing is known about the story details of Season 4. With the last episode of Season 3 coming next Friday, fans can at least straighten out the questions they need to ask in Season 4, but nothing can be said for more surprises the show will have for us.
Withstanding possible deaths or “disappearances”, we can only assume that the main cast will come back for Season 4. Season 2’s finale had left us reeling with urgent questions burning our curious minds, and we can rightly guess Season 3’s finale will have us wanting season 4 as soon as possible.
About The Boys
The Boys is an American satirical superhero streaming television series developed by Eric Kripke for Prime Video. Based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, which was originally published by DC Comics under their Wildstorm imprint before moving to Dynamite Entertainment, it follows the eponymous team of vigilantes as they combat superpowered individuals who abuse their abilities.
The show is a satirical take on the superhero genre and showcases a world where superheroes are corporatized and controlled by companies. What happens when these superheroes step out of line and rub some boys the wrong way, is the story.
