Karen Gillan of Doctor Who fame wrapped up filming for her upcoming film, The Life of Chuck, based on Stephen King’s novella of the same name.
The Life of Chuck was published as a part of Stephen King’s 2020 collection, If It Bleeds. The story, narrated in reverse order, revolves around Chuck, who is terminally ill due to a brain tumor. The story begins with Chuck’s death and ends with his early life.
The upcoming adaptation stars Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hamill alongside Gillan. It will be directed by Mike Flanagan, known for making some of the most popular horror films in the recent past.
In a recent BTS video on TikTok, Gillan mentioned that she has finished filming for The Life of Chuck. The video shows Gillan posing with the back of her chair from the sets, confirming that she has wrapped up filming for the movie.
Although Gillan has finished shooting the film, it does not necessarily mean the production is completed. The Life of Chuck was announced as early as May this year, and filming began in October after a temporary agreement with the SAG-AFTRA.
Therefore, Gillan could be playing a shorter role in the film, and the rest of the cast is still filming. As of now, there is no official confirmation about the release date of the film either.
If the SAG-AFTRA strike ends by this year or early next year, The Life of Chuck could aim for a late 2024 or early 2025 release. However, if the strike continues, nothing can be said for sure about the film’s release date.
The Life of Chuck is Flanagan’s first adaptation of a Stephen King story since Doctor Sleep in 2019. Flanagan is known for his work in the horror genre, with his latest work, The Fall of the House of Usher, receiving praise from fans.
Flanagan is set to unite with many actors he has worked with before for the film. As the shooting progresses, we are expected to know more details.
