Idol life is tough, and to become popular in the field, you need to give more than just your 100%.
Even in this massive pool of artists, some would rather laze around all day, and Phantom of the Idol is here to bring you the story of such a singer.
Yuuya, part of the boy pop duo ZINGS, retorted to sloppy performances and hostile behavior when the idol life did not meet his expectations. The life of comfort comes to an artist only after sheer hard work, and Yuuya wasn’t okay with it.
Until one day, he comes across this lively girl named Asahi Mogami, who was dolled up for a performance. The only catch is that the idol Asahi has been dead for a year.
Phantom of the Idol (Kami Kuzu☆Idol) manga has announced an anime adaptation for 2022, with a PV compiling some manga panels.
It starts by introducing the pop duo ZINGS that consists of Yuuya Niyodo and Kazuki Yoshino.
Unlike Yuuya, Kazuki is a hard worker who gives it his all and has become pretty popular. To put it simply, Kazuki is the reason that ZINGS is still going.
After another lifeless performance, Yuuya notices Asahi backstage, who’s ready to give a fun and glamorous concert. Yuuya inquires Kazuki about Asahi, where the latter reveals that the young idol tragically died a year ago.
To Yuuya’s horror, he realizes that he’s been talking to a ghost all this while. When Yuuya comes back to his senses, he wonders if spirit possession is possible.
This way, Asahi can fulfill her wish of being an idol for longer, and Yuuya can earn his way to the top by being possessed by the talented and cheerful ghost idol.
The franchise also unveiled a teaser visual featuring Yuuya and Asahi singing and putting up a great show.
Since we’re talking about the characters, the anime’s newly formed website also revealed the main cast, and we have it all here for you:
