The anime adaptation of Oyukiumi no Kaina or Kaina of the Great Snow Sea has not even arrived on screens and we have received the news of another installment. You don’t get to see that every time, at least not when we are just a few days away from the premiere.
On Saturday, a special preview screening for the anime series was held. The staff revealed that the anime adaptation of Kaina of the Great Snow Sea will have a film sequel.
The anime will debut on January 12, 2023, on Fuji TV’s Ultra+ Block. Crunchyroll will stream the series outside Asia as a part of the partnership with Fuji TV and Slow Curve which was announced in September 2021.
Kaina of the Great Snow Sea is the story of Kaina and Liliha, who live in a world sinking in the snow. The opening song “Telepath” is performed by Yorushika and the ending song “Juvenile” is performed by GReeeeN.

Polygon Pictures is producing the anime, with Hiroaki Ando as the director. Sadayiki Murai and Tetsuya Yamada are composing the scripts. Kohta Yamamoto and Misaki Umase are composing the music for the series.
A manga for the series written by Tsutomu Nihei and illustrated by Inoe Takemoto was launched in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine on February 26, 2022.
About Ōyukiumi no Kaina
Ōyukiumi no Kaina is a “girl-meets-boy high fantasy” series by Tsutomu Nihei and Polygon Pictures. Itoe Takemoto A manga by Itoe Takemoto has been serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius since February 2022.
The story follows Kaina and Liliha, who live in a world covered by the Great Snow Sea. People live on giant trees that have sprung from the land, and Kaina lives there as well. Liliha is a princess of a small country in the Great Snow Sea.
Their encounter and future adventures will lead to a huge change in their world.
