The first season of Kaiju No.8 ended earlier last week with a bang. The finale of the season left fans worried about the second season. Thankfully, shortly after the airing of finale, Crunchyroll announced that Kiju No.8 would be back for a second season.
Kaiju No.8 ended up being one of the best Shonen anime to air this season, receiving a MAL (My Anime List) rating of 8.36. Since the new season has already been announced, lets delve into the specifics of the new season.
The teaser for the new season was released on the 29th of June on Crunchyroll’s YouTube channel. Although not much information was revealed in it, we are assured that the sequel is in production, and it contains just as much action as season 1.
Season 2 Release Date
Unfortunately, no information on the release of season 2 has been disclosed yet. Since season 1 of Kaiju No.8 was released in the Spring 2024 season, we can expect the new release to be around that time in 2025.
Kaiju No.8 Season 2 Plot
After the end of season 1, Shinomiya Kikoru was transferred to the First Division of the Defense Forces which is also called the strongest division. Here, Kikoru works under Captain Narumi and other troop members, all of whom are able to release at least 40% of their combat potential.
Shinomiya notices that she isn’t as special as she was in the third division and feels motivated to work harder in order to not always be the one being protected.
Around this time, the Defence Forces headquarters decides to place Hibino Kafka under the First Division in order to further strengthen the Division as a countermeasure to the increasing number of Kaijuu spawns.
Amidst their first mission together, the First Division faces the new and empowered Kaiju No.9, who claims to exterminate Kaiju No.8 and take the great Kaiju power.
We expect to see more of Kaiju No.9 and the various number of Yojuu it spawns in the upcoming season. Will Kikoru and Kafka be able to protect everyone dear to them and live up to their dreams? Stay tuned for the release of Kaiju No.8 Season 2 to find out.

Kaiju No. 8 or Monster #8 is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto. It has been serialized for free on Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ from July 2020.
In Japan, creatures are known as kaiju frequently attack the nation with the Japanese Defense Force in charge of dealing with and killing them.
