No. Kaiju No.8 is not on break; the manga will have its next release two weeks later on Thursday as per schedule without any delays.
2. Kaiju No.8 Chapter 122 Recap
Chapter 122 of Kaiju No.8 starts with Kafka looking kinda disappointed about how the Daikaiju was unscathed by his attack from the previous chapter. He did expect to see some kind of damage, but he was content with it, as the purpose of his attack was to move the Daikaiju away from his allies. He realized that since this kaiju has the power and intelligence of no.9, it is way stronger than it was 400 years ago and had to be killed as soon as possible.
After this, Kafka lunged at the kaiju again and sent it flying into the air. Kafka followed, and the two had an aerial fight for a while until the Daikaiju kicked Kafka into a building, causing a lot of collateral damage. Right after this, the kaiju fired no.2’s beam at the ground. It isn’t known if this was done with the intent of distracting Kafka, but Kafka still managed to deflect the beam with a kick. The kaiju followed up with many more similar beams, which Kafka strenuously managed to deflect so that he could keep everyone on the ground safe. He then eventually got caught in a beam while he was off guard.
Meanwhile. those on the ground, especially people from HQ were quite shocked to see this Kaiju use no.2’s power continuously when even Isao could only manage to shoot two beams at a time. They began to realize how much of a threat the Meiji era Daikaiju was until they saw Kafka emerge from within the kaiju’s attack, fully unscathed. He then pounded the kaiju into a wall and showered it with a barrage of punches. One look at the terrain shattering around him would give anyone a good idea about how powerful each one of Kafka’s punches was.
Everyone at HQ had their hopes up as they watched Kafka mopping the floor with the kaiju. However, they were puzzled to see that Kafka stopped and took a step back. He then told HQ to have the danger zone extended to a 5-kilometer radius, as the Meji Era Daikaiju seemed to be changing its form, which marked the end of the 122nd issue of the manga.
3. What To Expect In Chapter 123?
Since the latest chapter ended with the Meiji-Era Daikaiju looking like it was bubbling up, we can expect to see something way more sinister to show up in the next chapter, especially since Kafka said, ” It’s here.” He must have referred to something that he’d seen in the memories of all the previous warriors who fought this kaiju.
The danger zone radius is going to be increased several fold, so most people from HQ and other combatants would have to be relocated. We can expect commanders Ashiro or Hoshina to stay in the spot, but we can’t expect them to be of much help any time soon. Since the battle is going to get way more dangerous in the upcoming chapters, we can expect Kafka to get some reinforcements like Reno and Shinomiya in the upcoming chapters.
