Look, I am all for new concepts and eccentric storylines. However, I am also a sucker for tried ideas that are executed well. And Kaiju No. 8 is one such story. It has elements we have seen in other anime but manages to drag you into the story.
Many of the manga readers have binge read the entire series. It’s addicting because it is simple. What can go wrong? We have giant monsters and technologically advanced humans trying to eliminate them.
The fans are excited about the anime, and here are a few details about the series.
The staff for Naoya Matsumoto’s Kaiju No. 8 manga anime debuted its second English-subtitled teaser promotional video. The teaser unveils the anime’s three lead cast members and April 2024 premiere.
The brief trailer shows glimpses from the first chapter of the manga. It introduces our protagonist, who, surprisingly, isn’t a teenager but a middle-aged man who has almost given up on his dream.
It also shows his mysterious transformation into a kaiju. Now why did he transform? We will have to wait till the anime releases to find out.
Production I.G. will handle animation production, while Studio Khara is in charge of kaiju designs and artwork.
The three cast members that were revealed during the announcement are listed below.
Character | Cast | Other Works |
Kafka Hibino/Kaiju No. 8 | Masaya Fukunishi | Blue Period (Sumida) |
Reno Ichikawa | Wataru Katō | The Legendary Hero is Dead! (Touka Scott) |
Mina Ashiro | Asami Seto | Chihayafuru (Chihaya Ayase) |
The anime isn’t exactly groundbreaking. However, it is super engaging. The primary concern comes from the released character designs, and fans have been finding multiple faults with them.
Nevertheless, there is still a long time for the anime to go, and you should give it a try before jumping to conclusions.
