Nagisa breaking up with Tsubasa because of Maki’s friendship is not what I expected in chapter 273 of Kaguya-sama: Love is War, given that it tends to point to the cliché ending where Maki finally gets her love interest after so long.
There aren’t many chapters left for some to be dedicated to the love subplot of secondary characters.
That being said, now that the ball has started rolling, Nagisa and Tsubasa reuniting would require much work on the author’s part to avoid feeling contrived. Unless, of course, it’s one of those “break-up feints.” I seem to recall that the story’s main ship has previously experienced at least two of those.
I’m curious where this will go. Nagisa and Maki are developed and impactful characters in the story, despite being secondary. A meaningful conclusion that respectfully completes their role in the story is probably expected.
Tsubasa is an undeveloped character who could easily be a named prop. It won’t matter where he ends up; the author’s message will be related to Nagisa or Maki’s story, not Tsubasa’s.

Chapter 273 is part 1 of Maki Shijo, Nagisa Kashiwagi, Tsubasa Tanuma’s final chapter. So naturally, the next issue will be part 2 of the same.

5. Chapter 273 Recap
The chapter begins with Ishigami and Maki talking about getting over their pasts (relationship interests), with Miyuki joining them remotely.
Maki says that one day she will ultimately get over “him” and wants Miyuki and Ishigami to keep the fact that she likes Tsubasa a secret from Nagisa. Nagisa happens to eavesdrop on this conversation.
The next day, Kaguya and Nagisa are talking about the other day on the school terrace. Nagisa says that she became interested in Tsubasa because she always saw him getting along with Maki and being nice to her. This is why Nagisa accepted Tsubasa’s proposal without thinking much when he asked her out.
Nagisa thinks she stole Tsubasa from Maki because she never imagined Maki could fall for anyone. She asks Kaguya whether she knows about Maki and Tsubasa. Kaguya had a rough idea and didn’t tell Nagisa because she and Maki are close friends of Kaguya so she couldn’t take any particular person’s side.
Kaguya reveals that she knew Maki liked Tsubasa for the past seven years before Nagisa and Maki first met. Kaguya says that if Maki had felt uncomfortable around the couple, she would have stopped being around. But she didn’t, which implies that she had no problems with the relationship.
Kaguya asks Nagisa what her choice would be. Nagisa stutters, and then it is shown that rumors of Nagisa and Tsubasa breaking up have started spreading shortly after that day.
