The latest trailer of DC’s Justice Society: World War II brought with it an unexpected appearance from the modern Flash. The new trailer of the upcoming animated film starring the comic’s original superhero team was released on February 4, 2021. It is yet to get a premiere date but is likely to come out sometime later this year.
The team of Justice Society of America hasn’t been used all that much in the media. However, the team was recently a major element of The CW’s Stargirl. The group will now feature in their first-ever animated movie, Justice Society: World War II. The film was confirmed last year along with Batman: The Long Halloween. The voice cast was disclosed last month.
The film seems to be a detailed presentation of what the Justice Society is about amid the destructive world war. In addition to illustrating the characters in action, the trailer uncovers Flash traveling back in time to meet up with the team. Intriguingly enough, the climax scene looks like the Justice Society could be ending up in the future themselves.
In the two Wonder Woman movies so far, we’ve seen Diana as the eponymous superheroine. In the comics, however, the Wonder Woman in the Justice Society was actually her mother, Queen Hippolyta. It will be fascinating to see if that’s the case in the animated film too, but it’s most likely Diana since Steve Trevor is featured.
The Flash is instantly launched into the midst of a raging battle, largely between Nazis and a squad of Golden Age DC Super Heroes, aka the Justice Society. Headed by Wonder Woman, the Justice Society includes Hourman, Black Canary, Hawkman, Steve Trevor, and the Golden Age Flash, Jay Garrick. The Flash quickly joins his teammates and assists them in tilting the scales in their favor, while the team tries to find a way to send him home.
There’s no definite date yet, but the movie is set to be released later in 2021.
