Jurassic World Dominion BTS Clip Shows the Film’s Practical Effects

Jurassic World Dominion will mark the epic conclusion to the current Jurassic era, so it comes as no surprise that even the making process of the film is epic.

The film will unite Jurassic veterans Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill with current stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard alongside new cast members joining in for a global adventure.

One of the new cast, DeWanda Wise, took to Instagram this week to give fans a glimpse of the work that goes behind the scenes. Of course, making the dinosaurs come alive takes a village, but the practical on-set designs require just as many hands.

Wise’s caption talked about “the incredible craftsmanship” that went into filming as crew members fixed up a forest with the tallest trees by adding fake branches onto them.

Dominion is an expensive project which will combine practical sets and special effects to make the adventure more thrilling and the dinosaurs more real than ever.

Even the trailer notes, “Bigger. Why do they always have to go bigger?” but as long as they deliver the epic conclusion as promised, we’ll be in the front row admiring it all.

While talking to Total Film magazine, director Colin Trevorrow explained how this film would be different from the previous park/island-based Jurassic flicks.

This is a rare film where it is so different from anything that I’ve ever seen before, I didn’t know what to watch as inspiration.

Honestly, we watched a lot of nature documentaries. I watched a lot of Planet Earth. The movie does rely on the animals acting and reacting in ways that feel natural.

As it’s a big crossover for two generations of Jurassic actors, the director promised it was more than just for nostalgia’s sake and that all the actors will have important roles,

Laura, Sam, and Jeff have as much screentime in the film as Bryce and Chris do.

They’re not together the entire time, but we are following both of their stories equally, and you have a sense that they’re going to collide at a certain point… there’s this tension. It’s not structured necessarily in a way that we’re used to seeing our Hollywood movies structured. But it works.

Alongside Wise, new cast members include Mamoudou Athie, Dichen Lachman, Scott Haze, and Campbell Scott with returning cast including BD Wong, Justice Smith, Daniella Pineda, and Omar Sy.

Dominion will take place four years after Isla Nublar’s destruction. Dinosaurs have fully been unleashed into our world as they now live and hunt alongside humans everywhere.

With a fragile balance between the two, it’ll soon be decided whether humans remain the apex predators or are taken over by the ultimate predators from the past.

Jurassic World Dominion is set for its theatrical release on June 10, 2022.
