The Dino-franchise Jurassic Park films go way back to 1993, which marks the beginning of some of the greatest films in the modern-day era. Universal Studios acquired the rights to the films in 2000 from Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park novels.
The Jurassic Park films were a trilogy, and the third film was released in 2001. After that, the franchise took a long break, and then back in 2013, Jurassic World was born. It is the first film in another trilogy, with the third and final installment of the film coming out on June 10, 2022.
Colin Trevorrow, the director of Jurassic World: Dominion, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, confirmed that the upcoming Jurassic World: Dominion would wrap up the franchise that began with the 1993 film “Jurassic Park.”
“When you got to the end of the Jurassic Park trilogy, it may not have been as clear in what the complete story of those three movies was because they were a bit more episodic in the way that they were approached. But this trilogy is not that way,” Trevorrow told Entertainment Weekly.
Trevorrow called Jurassic World 3 a “celebration of the whole franchise,” as the film will wrap the Jurassic World trilogy as well as the entire franchise.
“It’s very much a serialized story. What was important for me was, when you watch Dominion, you really feel like you are learning how much of a story that first set of movies was and how everything that happened in those movies actually informs what ultimately is able to happen in this,” He added.
When it comes to the plot of the threequel, not much is known. But it will be interesting if the film picked up the dramatic ending of its predecessor, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, where we see a whole bunch of dinosaurs causing destruction in their wake in the real world.
But whatever the plot may be, fans are particularly excited about the casting of the film. We will see a lot of familiar faces from previous films in the upcoming threequel.
Dominion will have an ensemble of Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, along with the Jurassic Park stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, who will reprise their roles. With everyone (the main cast) being there in Dominion, Trevorrow joked about how it feels like an Avengers film.
It seems like the film will be nostalgic to its fans as well, especially those of the older trilogy. And if there is anyone who still hasn’t watched them, well, Dominion is still at least a year away. Catch up!
