MAKI GANG! Rise up. Jujutsu Kaisen has nailed women supremacy with the last episode, and Maki has climbed so high in my list of favorite characters. However, all my homies still love Nobara the most. I mean, how can one not love Kugisaki Nobara, who loves herself when she’s pretty and all dressed up!
Even though Mai and Nobara have been retired from the event, the level of fights is bound to only rise from here on. It’s just the first day of the event, and our jaws have already dropped harder than Nobara hit Momo with her toy hammer.
With unexpected turns of events and mind-boggling animation, as fans anticipate what’s more to come, we bring the updates on the next episode of Jujutsu Kaisen.
1. Episode 18 Discussion and Preview
I feel bad for Miwa as she was told that Maki was weak! But the hope for our light-hearted and sparkling girl has not died as she was not mentioned in the list of retired characters at the end.
As Maki was using Miwa’s sword for fighting Mai, we can expect a scene of Maki returning her sword, and it will be entrancing to watch the conversation between the two after it all ends.
In the next episode, we will find out how Miwa is going to survive the rest of the event without her sword. Does she have any swordless technique up her sleeve? The next episode will be another action-packed one as the fight between the exchange students continues, and this time, we will follow the battle between Megumi and Noritoshi Kamo.

No, Jujutsu Kaisen is not a break this week and episode 18 will be released as scheduled.
3. Episode 17 Recap
Miwa faces Maki, and Maki comes smashing through the expectations Miwa had for her. Mai once told Miwa that Maki is a fourth-grade sorcerer who can’t even see curses. She is a weakling and will forever be a fourth-grader.
However, in the fight against her, Miwa, a grade three sorcerer, gets totally overpowered by her and she discovers that Maki can easily defeat a second-grade cursed spirit. Failing to stand any chance against her incredible strength, Miwa loses the fight and even her sword.
It is revealed that Maki should’ve been promoted to second-grade already, but her own Zenin clan keeps getting in the way.
So far, both the school have defeated one cursed spirit each, and the competition is going neck and neck as both focus their forces on other sorcerers rather than spirits.
Meanwhile, Nobara faces Momo, and Momo is curious to fight the first-year. She even manages to land a blow on Nobara’s face with her magical broom, but soon after, the fight turns into a battle of ideals as they both idolize the polar opposite of personalities.
In the small talks between the fight, Nobara manages to distract Momo’s attention from the bigger picture and manages to trap her into her Straw Doll Technique.
With Momo on the ground, Nobara lands a solid hit on her face with a toy hammer as her real hammer might actually kill her. However, just as she was about to land a finishing blow, Mai snipes Nobara from across the map with a rubber bullet, which knocks her out.
Momo is saved and gets back in the air to provide support to her team, but soon Maki catches up to her sister, Mai, and faces her one-on-one. With both being well-versed with each other’s strengths, the fight between the sisters sharing a history twisted by their clan rages on.
We receive a flashback of younger Maki and Mai and how they were singled out in their clan because twins were seen as a sign of ill-fortune. However, Maki was determined to become the Clan Leader, which put the sisters through ordeals that Mai didn’t even yearn for.
Back in the fight, Maki’s superhuman strength gets her an upper hand even against Mai’s secret technique, and Maki successfully retires Mai.
