With Jujutsu Kaisen approaching its climax, fans are brimming with anticipation, eagerly awaiting the resolution of Itadori Yuji’s story. Spoilers for the much-awaited Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 268 are causing a stir across the internet.
The alleged Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 268 spoilers were supposed to resolve the fight between Yuji Itadori and Ryomen Sukuna. True to expectations, the spoilers did not disappoint, as the manga not only saw the end of the fight but also witnessed Gege’s masterful use of the golden shonen formula.
The Golden Shonen Formula “Keep your friends close, but your enemies ever closer.” Reminiscent of Black Clover’s ultimate showdown between Asta and Liebe and the legendary Naruto taming Kurama battle, this sets the stage for the final showdown and conversation between Yuji and Sukuna.
Yuji Parallels With Other Shonen Protagonists
Unlike Asta, who found a friend in Liebe, and Naruto, who eventually befriended Kurama, Yuji’s relationship with Sukuna is one of pure resentment. Both Naruto and Asta managed to find common ground with their demons. However, Sukuna, the king of curses, has only brought him pain and suffering, destroying everything he holds dear.
Despite initially not wanting to, Asta had to participate in the Devil-Binding ritual. However, instead of binding Liebe, he requested that the devil become his friend instead. Similarly, Naruto managed to befriend Kurama after intensive battles and struggles.
However, the similarities between Yuji and the other Shonen protagonists end when it comes to hosting a demon inside your body. The atrocities committed by Sukuna are unforgivable, and Yuji is burdened with the guilt of bringing him back to life and losing control over himself.
Unlike Naruto and Asta, Yuji’s body was a cause of more damage while hosting Sukuna, damage that had severe repercussions and consequences. He thinks of Sukuna as his own parallel self if his words “Sukuna, I am you.” are anything to rely upon. And is resolute in his determination to take responsibility for the rest of his life.
What Happened To Sukuna
After Sukuna’s reincarnation within Megumi’s body got undone, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 268 spoilers showed Yuji looking down on Sukuna’s residuals and asking him what he planned to do next. The manga depicted a flashback of Yuji asking Sukuna to release Fushiguro in return for which he would spare the King of Curses’s life.
Having said that, Yuji collected Sukuna’s remnants and remarked that they were cursed from birth without realizing it. Having his grandpa by his side, Yuji remained steadfast. Therefore, Yuji requested Sukuna to attempt cohabiting once again. Even if no one else would accept him, he alone could live on with him.
Sukuna was furious with Yuji’s comforting words and mocked him for acting foolishly to such a degree. He made sure Yuji knew not to underestimate him because he was a curse.
While it’s unlikely that Yuji and Sukuna will become friends, the potential for a dramatic turn of events is high. With three more chapters to go and so much left unanswered, the storyline is set for some intense developments. I highly doubt they are going to fight from the same side ever though.
