The Shinjuku Showdown arc has finally come to a close. The victory that was secured against Sukuna was a huge clutch and could definitely not have been attained if any one person hadn’t shown up. Despite this, victory did come at the cost of a few innocent lives.
The leaks of the latest chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen featured a huge discussion between all the characters who survived the big battle against Sukuna. The previous chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen ended with Itadori and the gang going to meet Yuuta, and the latest chapter starts exactly from there. In this article we’ll get to find out who all managed to live and tell the tale of their fight against Sukuna.
Yuuta is Still Alive
The chapter starts out with Yuuta explaining how he managed to escape from Gojo’s body. When Itadori, Megumi and Nobara walked in, they got to see Maki grilling Megumi about something. On seeing them, Itadori asked Yuuta how he managed to escape.
To this, Yuuta explained that partway between Yuuta’s possession of Gojo’s body, Rika left him. This had him worried, however, the fact was that Rika actually returned to Yuuta’s original body, healed it, and maintained it such that Yuuta could return to it anytime.
Yuuta, who was a cornerstone in the battle against the fight against Sukuna, is one of the best sorcerers alive at this point in the story, as Gojo has already died. It is a huge relief to us fans as well as the Jujutsu community, to know that he is still safe.
Maki Managed to Survive Sukuna’s Onslaught
During the smack middle of the Shinjuku Showdown arc, when multiple people like Itadori, Choso, Maki, and Higuruma had Sukuna pincered, Maki particularly shone in the battle. This was due to Maki’s awakening that happened during the culling game arc. As she was already blessed with superior physical abilities due to heavenly restriction, this additional awakening allowed to be a monster that is just like Fushiguro Toji.
During the Shinjuku showdown arc, during the deadlock with Sukuna, Maki got hit by Sukuna’s black flash twice, after which she disappeared. She must have been picked up by Ui Ui’s teleportation and hence gotten saved. However, this wasn’t clear until now.
Higuruma Survived With Just a Few Injuries
Higuruma is one of the characters that has shown the biggest potential in Jujutsu Kaisen. Just a mere 2 months after awakening as a sorcerer, Higuruma showed his dominance in the culling game as well as his skill as a Jujutsu sorcerer. He even has his own domain expansion!
In their fight, the Judgeman declared Sukuna to be guilty, and the executioner’s sword materialized. However, Sukuna’s cursed energy wasn’t confiscated. This was because if the accused has a cursed tool, then the judgeman confiscates the cursed tool first. This flaw in Higuruma’s domain caused him to lose.
We watched regretfully as Sukuna struck Higuruma down during that fight. However, according to the leaks in Chapter 269, Higuruma is still alive with only a few injuries. His explanation was that if Sukuna had been more serious during the battle, then he wouldn’t have lived to tell the tale.
Everyone Else That Survived
It should come as no surprise that Itadori survived the battle. Besides him, Fushiguro and Nobara also managed to survive the battle by good grace.
In the latest chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, it was also revealed that other characters who were involved in the Shinjuku Showdown arc whose statuses were unknown, are also still alive. Kusakabe, who was featured quite a few times in between the battles, is still alive.
Besides Kusakabe, Inumaki too is still alive. There was a worry among fans as Yuuta used Inumaki’s remote cursed speech technique to land a technique on Sukuna. Since the technique was used on Sukuna, there was a good chance that Inumaki would’ve died due to the backlash from his own technique. This didn’t happen as Sukuna was weakened at that point.
It was also noticed that everyone from the Kyoto school was still alive after the fight. This was because most of them sat out the fight with Sukuna. Todo Aoi, who was intensely invested in the fight, especially due to his new and revamped boogie woogie, contributed a lot to their fight and even survived.
When Will Chapter 269 Release?
Chapter 269 of Jujutsu Kaisen will be released on the 15th of September. It can be read through its official sources like MangaPlus (by Shueisha) and Shonen Jump.
