Episode 8, titled “Confidential File 642, The Witching Hour,” has been released this week.

Last, we saw that Makoto killed Asahi to instigate Sawa. Enraged by this, Sawa lost control over herself and attacked Makoto.

In episode 8, Sawa got revenge on Makoto by viciously attacking him. Jin was nearing his end and prepared himself to carry out one last job.

Episode 8 ended with Jin coming to terms with the fact that his end is nearing. With the help of Elena, he prepares to carry out one last job.

We may see Jin being killed in the upcoming episode. 

This will be yet another loss for Sawa, but she will deal with it as she has learned from her experiences in the past, especially Asahi’s death.

3. Recap of Episode 8

Episode 8, titled “Confidential File 642, The Witching Hour,” starts off with Sawa being enraged at Makoto.

Makoto succeeded in instigating Sawa by attacking the people that are close to her. She kills the teacher, Oikawa, and Asahi just to get Sawa to revert to her past self.

Sawa furiously attacks Makoto for killing Asahi but finds that Makoto’s Changeling form is quite a tough match for her. She takes a considerable amount of damage from Makoto.

Although they are equally matched, the battle finally seems to be favoring Sawa. She cuts Makoto deeply. Makoto realizes that she has lost and she has no regrets about dying.

Makoto is glad that she is able to bring back Sawa’s violent self, and she is her primary target. However, Sawa resists the urge to kill Makoto with the fatal blow.

Suddenly a dark, bird-like Changeling swoops down from the sky and kills Makoto. By then Sawa loses consciousness and is abducted by the same Changeling.

The changeling is then revealed to be created by Jin, whose intent is to save Sawa. He takes her to a remote location to recover as she would not have made it to Tokyo in her condition.

After four whole days, Sawa regains consciousness. However, she is struck with grief and has suicidal tendencies after realizing everyone she cared for is dead. 

When Jin goes to get some food, Sawa tries to kill herself by drowning herself. However, with the help of the white crow, Jin is able to make it in time and rescue her. 

Sawa begs Jin to kill her and even tries to harm him. Jin tries to console her and tells her of his own sorrowful past. 

The episode ends with Jin preparing himself to carry out one last job with some help from Elena. He realizes that his end is near and comes to terms with it.

Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood is an original anime produced by Bushiroad and Sonilude. Studio Bakken Record is animating it, and it is set for an April 2021 debut.

The anime takes place in an alternate history of Japan where the Tokugawa shogunate was never abolished.
