So far, we saw Sawa get revenge on Makoto for killing Asahi. Jin sensed that his end is near and prepares for one last battle. 

In episode 9, Sawa goes to her hometown to pay her respects and clear her mind. Sawa is made aware of Jin’s deteriorating health.

Episode 9 ended with Sawa realizing that Jin does not have much longer. We shall see Sawa accept the offer to help Jin one last time before his demise. 

We also get to know that Jin killed Sawa’s family. Those were definitely the scars that Sawa saw on the back of the man that killed her family. So it wasn’t a coincidence that Jin picked and trained her. 

We may also see Sawa find a way to save Jin before his life comes to an end. Sawa will also be taken hostage to mass-produce batches of drugs.

3. Recap of Episode 9

Episode 9, titled “Confidential File 668, Ethereal Love,” starts with Jin preparing himself for one last job before his end catches up to him.

Jin requests that Sawa works with him again before he leaves to get back to Tokyo. Sawa has a lot on her mind, so she does not give a definite answer. 

Rinko shows up at the bungalow and acquaints herself with Sawa as another Nue killer entrusted with watching Sawa and Asahi. 

Sawa is angered by the fact that Rinko could have saved Asahi if she wanted to but chose not to do so. 

Sawa chooses to get back to her old neighborhood, and Rinko accompanies her. Sawa and Rinko show up at the remains of the Karasumori town, where she pays her respects to her family’s passing and promises to seek after her retribution.

Jin is informed that Sawa is needed to make new mass-delivered clumps of the medication to create a relentless armed force for the shogun, yet Jin demands that she has more worth as a killer.  

As Sawa and Asahi ride the train back to Tokyo, it is boarded by Kuchinawa specialists who have taken the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs as a prisoner. They demand the release of one of their individuals who is being held detainee. 

Rinko shows her capacity to control the metal groups of Oronium inside her body to make weapons and kill them. 

The episode ends with Sawa getting back to her book shop when she discovers a note left in a book. When she visits Jin, he offers her another mission. However, she cuts the garments from his back, revealing his deteriorating body.

Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood is an original anime produced by Bushiroad and Sonilude. Studio Bakken Record is animating it, and it is set for an April 2021 debut.

The anime takes place in an alternate history of Japan where the Tokugawa shogunate was never abolished.
