Boy meets girl. But what happens when girl cannot satiate boy’s murderous, obsessive urges. This is exactly what the trailer for You’s Season 2 teases.
Following up from the teaser that announced the arrival of Joe and Love’s baby boy Henry (in a rather morbid way), in the full-length trailer, we have the newbie father narrating the struggles of starting fresh to his son.
Joe seems to be especially affected by the role he has to take on and tries in vain to change his ways. He and Love move to a dull suburb and take on couple’s therapy so that they can leave the past in the past. (Love even starts her own quaint bakery!)
That is until Joe sees more of his mysterious neighbor than he should. The neighbor is revealed to be a character named Natalie, played by Michaela McManus, but there are no other hints as to what kind of person she is.
The trailer shows that Joe’s urges are beginning to flare up once again. And now, any new obsession has larger collateral damage, as it can affect baby Henry as well as trigger Love’s own serial killer instincts.
To the tune of J2 featuring Blu Holiday’s “Epic Version” of Hit Me Baby One More Time, the trailer features a montage of blood, gore, bodies being stuffed in garbage bags, and more.
The season will have quite a few new characters, like Natalie, who will influence the course of events, but it is the murderous duo’s internal conflict that will keep the tension up.
As seen in the clip, Joe and Love’s partnership isn’t going well at all, and their mistrust and jealousy surrounding each other may rake up a higher body count than ever before.
And I’m not sure how much a couple’s session is going to help and I even chuckled when the therapist voices, “Neither one of you is going to kill your spouse. You are many things, but you are not murderers.” — Want to rethink that one, doc?
