The Last of Us episode 6 trailer features the reunion of Joel and Ellie with another significant character, Joel’s estranged brother, Tommy (Gabriel Luna).
The Last of Us follows the story of Joel Miller, a smuggler who has taken up the responsibility to escort a teenager named Ellie to the scientists through a post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested United States. Ellie is immune to the rapidly spreading infection which makes her humanity’s only hope of finding an antidote.
In the last few episodes, Joel and Ellie have been stuck in Kansas City which is now under the control and rule of bandits. Ahead of its release, HBO has released a trailer for the upcoming episode 6 of The Last of Us. Watch it here –
The trailer gives us a glimpse of the next chapter of Joel and Ellie’s journey, where they make their way through Wyoming and Joel meets his estranged brother, Tommy. However, the reunion isn’t all love and emotions, as there seems to be a little bit of resentment between the two brothers.
Tommy and Joel had parted ways in The Last of Us episode 1 and we’ve been waiting for them to reunite for quite some time. On seeing each other for the first time, Joel and Tommy embrace each other. However, the trailer also includes them arguing over things they’ve done in the past, such as ‘murdering people’, as Tommy mentions.
The video game character Maria also makes her first appearance in the trailer. Previously, it was confirmed that she would be introduced in the series as the leader of the Jackson settlement in Wyoming just like in the game. We see her watching over Ellie in the trailer. Those who are familiar with the video game know that Maria will end up having a deep and important connection with Ellie.
The trailer also features a big location reveal. It includes a glimpse of the Tipsy Bison salon, which originally appears in part II of the video game. This was probably an interesting easter egg for fans of the game who are following the series.

The Last of Us is an HBO TV series adaptation of the award-winning video game of the same name originally developed by Naughty Dog.
It is set in 2033, as a fungal infestation plagues humans, turning them feral and blind before finally finishing them off. The series follows Joel’s journey to escort an immune 14-year-old Ellie to the Fireflies, who hope to study her to procure a vaccine.
The cast comprises Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, both famed for their roles in Games of Thrones, along with Gabriel Luna, Merle Dandridge, and Nico Parker. The show was renewed for season 2.
