The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts has announced that Jimmy Kimmel will return to host the Oscars for the fourth time overall!
The late-night host is returning for his second straight year after 2023’s award ceremony brought in 18.7 million viewers, the most since 2020’s pre-pandemic broadcast.
Furthermore, Kimmel’s cautious humor in concoction with an exceptional presence of mind helped stabilize the Oscars after the infamous Will Smith slap fiasco bludgeoned its reputation in 2022.

Although the comedian is bolstering his resume by racking up those numbers, he still has a long way to go before breaking the record for the most frequent Oscar emcee. That ‘Oscar’ currently belongs to Bob Hope, who hosted the event for a record 19 times as a host or a co-host.
The film academy has also announced the other members of the crew. Raj Kapoor will serve as the showrunner and executive producer, with Katy Mullan and Hamish Hamilton at the helm of it.
The three will be joined by Molly McNearney, executive producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live and Kimmel’s wife, who will return for the second time as the show’s executive producer.
In a recent interview, Kapoor and Mullan raved about Jimmy Kimmel and appreciated his humor and personality. Read what they had to say:
Jimmy has cemented himself as one of the all-time great Oscars hosts with his perfect blend of humanity and humor, and Molly is one of the best live TV producers around
The 96th Academy Awards will be telecasted live on ABC on March 10 from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
