Jim Lee, who has worked under the DC Comics banner for decades now, just re-upped his contract with the publishing company and received a much more suitable title for himself. Wrap reports the creator is now also the President of DC Comics, along with being the Chief Creative Officer & Publisher for the organization.
The head publisher will still report to Pam Lifford, the president of global brands, franchises, and experiences at Warner Bros. Discovery. But apart from keeping a big clear picture across the creative teams in the publishing house, his duties will extend to align the vast array of characters and stories in the DC Universe with DC’s multi-media franchise.
Lee replaced Geoff Johns as the CCO in 2018 and became the sole leading publisher at DC Comics in 2020 after Dan Didio parted ways with the company. The creator first joined the comic-making business in the 80s, sticking with Marvel Comics and later creating his Wildstorm Imprint at Image Comics.
After his work at Image, he joined DC Comics and soon made his mark at the company, scoring the CCO job five years ago. Now WB Discovery is looking to expand and recreate the DC brand into a multi-media franchise that can stand on par with Marvel Studios, this is a great move on their part.
