Disney+ is launching next week, and much of the MCU’s fate rests in its success. The subscription service will provide access to upcoming shows like Winter Soldier and The Falcon, WandaVision, Loki, and many more. Moreover, it will house other iconic cultural franchises like Star Wars too.
These days Jeremy Renner has been embroiled in controversy due to conflict with his ex-wife. There were even rumours that Disney might consider replacing the Hawkeye actor for his own Disney+ series. For now, that is not happening and Disney is going forward with Jeremy Renner in the role. It is however confirmed that Renner will bid farewell to the role after the Hawkeye Disney+ series and this will be his last appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The show will act as a sendoff for the founding member of the Avengers, with Kate set to take over his mantle, much as she does in the comics. Amid the recent controversy over troubling claims made by Renner’s ex-wife, it seems Marvel’s still keeping the actor on for this project but is unlikely to ask him back again. It is unknown whether this decision is based on Renner’s personal issues or is a part of the plan, to begin with.
About the show, Hailee Steinfeld is known to be the studio’s top choice for Kate, but the actress recently made clear that her casting isn’t a done deal yet. Whoever plays the heroine will likely be a prominent part of the franchise going forward, though if Renner’s leaving. A place on the Young Avengers team is all but confirmed for Bishop as well.
In any case, even despite all the trouble that Jeremy Renner currently finds himself in, it’s good to hear that Hawkeye will get a proper sendoff in the MCU, and we’re certainly looking forward to seeing what Marvel does with the show.
