Jeopardy Honours The Host in the Last Episode

The legendary Jeopardy! host, Alex Trebek, passed away peacefully at the age of 80 last November. Following his death, many celebrities, former contestants, and viewers paid their tributes to Trebek. Including the popular game show Jeopardy!

The game show Jeopardy recently released Alex Trebek’s last recorded episodes and honored him with a video featuring his best moments as the show host.

Jeopardy added a beautiful tribute video at the end of the final episode recorded by Trebek, which had aired on January 8, 2021. The video played after the credits rolled, and it was set to Peter Allen’s “Once before I go.”

The last episode that Trebek presented was “Woman & Science.” He ended the episode signing off with a simple thank you, obviously unaware that it might be the last time he’d be on the show.

“Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for spending the time with us. We’ll see you again next week,” Trebek said while signing off.

Trebek remained upbeat in his last days and even joked about his future memorial in his memoir, The Answer Is… Reflections on My Life, writing,

“One thing they’re not going to say at my funeral, as part of a eulogy is: ‘He was taken from us too soon.'”

Back in 2019, Trebek announced that he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Of course, the world was shocked, but Trebek persisted and continued to work as the host of Jeopardy!: The Greatest of All Time.

Last November, however, saw the end of Trebek’s hosting career as he passed away peacefully at the age of 80, after recording his last few episodes for the game show.

The first of the five final Trebek episodes aired earlier this week, and it brought fans to comfort and nostalgia as he continues to make a mark of his presence over the audience, even in death.
