Ever since Prime Video’s The Boys concluded its second season, fans have been eagerly waiting for the next one.
Besides the intriguing plot, cliffhanger endings, and an already swoon-worthy cast, Amazon had announced that Supernatural star Jensen Ackles would be introduced in Season 3 as Soldier Boy.
To remind us that it has already been a year since the announcement, Ackles took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes throwback photo with a bearded face and buff body, ready to bring life to the original character.
The post contains two pictures of Ackles’ frizzy/untamed beard and built physique and the fake comic cover for Soldier Boy, created by The Boys co-creator and artist Darick Robertson.
Under the post, Ackles wrote, “Thanks iPhone for reminding me what I looked like a year ago today. All prepped and ready for some #soldierboy action!!! Can’t wait for @theboystv S3. It’s gonna get hairy.”
The superhero/dark comedy series, developed by Eric Kripke, has become one of Prime Video’s most popular original shows since it premiered in 2019.
Ackles will reunite with Kripke once again for The Boys, following their work together on Supernatural. The actor will join returning cast members Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, and Claudia Doumit.
Fans of the series have many questions following the ending of Season 2. With everything going on with Butcher, the team, Homelander, and the much anticipated “Herogasm” episode, it’ll be interesting to see how Soldier Boy fits in the series.
The Boys season 3 is just a little more than a month away and is set to premiere on Prime Video on June 3, 2022.
About The Boys
The Boys is an American satirical superhero streaming television series developed by Eric Kripke for Prime Video. Based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, which was originally published by DC Comics under their Wildstorm imprint before moving to Dynamite Entertainment, it follows the eponymous team of vigilantes as they combat superpowered individuals who abuse their abilities.
The show is a satirical take on the superhero genre and showcases a world where superheroes are corporatized and controlled by companies. What happens when these superheroes step out of line and rub some boys the wrong way, is the story.
