Jeff Goldblum Replaces Hugh Grant as Zeus in Netflix Show Kaos

Jeff Goldblum has replaced Hugh Grant to play Zeus in Netflix’s upcoming modern-day take on Greek mythology, Kaos.

Kaos gives a unique modern twist to one of the oldest existing stories: Greek mythology. The show is yet another addition to the recent trend of shows giving a modern-day twist to mythology, including Moon Knight, American Gods, Ragnarok, and Netflix’s upcoming Sandman adaptation.

Created by Charlie Covell, Kaos is a dark comedy that is a contemporary reimagining of popular stories of Greek mythology. Earlier, Hugh Grant was roped in to play Zeus in the series. However, according to Deadline, the actor had to drop out due to unavailability of dates.

After Grant backed out, the role fell into the able hands of Jeff Goldblum. In this modern-day adaptation, the King of the Gods falls into dangerous paranoia and neurosis after he discovers a wrinkle on his forehead, making his inevitable downfall pretty certain.

Goldblum is an able performer with several iconic roles in his filmography. He recently played Dr. Ian Malcolm in the series-ending Jurassic World: Dominion and The Grandmaster in Thor: Love and Thunder, though not in physical form.

The cast also features Janet McTeer as Hera, David Thewlis as Hades, and Cliff Curtis as Poseidon. Playing neurotic men with god complexes seems to be a specialty of Goldblum’s, since he has been playing such characters for a long time, from The Fly to The Life Aquatic to Search Party.
