As if the ongoing pandemic was not enough, mankind is facing one trouble after another. This time, the threat has come in the form of a terrifying earthquake in Japan. Anime and TV shows have been canceled due to the earthquake.
The earthquake has caused landslides, electrical disturbances, and many people had to evacuate for higher ground. Many videos are being circulated online that show things falling off the shelves in shops or different materials getting displaced inside houses.
Fukushima in Japan faced a 7.1 magnitude earthquake on 13th February. The tremors were also felt in Tokyo at a magnitude of 4.
World Trigger, the anime series, also suffered due to the natural disaster. The 6th episode of World Trigger’s 2nd season was scheduled for broadcast on 14th February. However, due to the massive earthquake, the broadcast was replaced by Emergency News Coverage.
The revised airing date of the 6th episode has not been officially confirmed yet. However, there is a chance that it will be aired on 21st February. We do not know whether the 7th episode will be aired later or on the same day.
A TV show, Kaban Mochi Sasete Kudasai!, was also supposed to have a special episode where they would visit the workplace of Yoshifumi Tozuka. Tozuka is the mangaka of the Undead Unluck series. The special feature was also delayed, and the future rescheduling has not been confirmed yet.
Japan’s Meteorological Agency believes that the quake is an aftershock of the massive 2011 Great East Japan earthquake that also caused a tsunami. Large-scale earthquakes can have aftershocks that can keep coming even after many years.
The 2011 earthquake had caused the most severe nuclear disaster after Chernobyl at the Fukushima Daichi Nuclear Power Plant. The power plant is currently undergoing investigation and the first reports state that no abnormalities have been detected yet.
Mass panic has been caused by the earthquake, leading to people’s evacuation to higher grounds in fear of another tsunami. Fukushima is currently on its road to recovery.
