Warner Bros. allowed James Gunn the freedom he needed for his vision of Peacemaker—so naturally, the creator was able to deliver a project without too many cooks spoiling his broth, resulting in a refreshing new addition to the DCEU.
WB realized this formula works, so the studio is entrusting Gunn with two possible new DC projects.
Following the success of his version of The Suicide Squad, Gunn had mentioned quite a few times that he was working on more secret DC projects besides Peacemaker, and that they may or may not be related to the series.
With the HBO Max series arriving in the UK and Season 2 already greenlit, Gunn talked to Neil Vagg for his podcast, mentioning two other projects once again.
Gunn spoke about the Peacemaker Season 1 finale, talking about the general idea of where he wants Chris and co. to go next season. However, before that, Gunn is focused on other things,
“Frankly, I’m working on another DC thing, and maybe another one. So we’ve got a couple of different things we’re trying to balance with the story.”
Speaking to Collider in January, Gunn had revealed that one of the projects would be based on a character from The Suicide Squad and would be a TV series. As for the other project, one can only speculate.
Next up for Gunn in the superhero world is Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is scheduled for a May 2023 release.
However, before that, Gunn is set to appear as himself in the next season of Harley Quinn sometime later this year.

Peacemaker is a DC Extended Universe series that will delve into the past of the titular character, who’ll make his cinematic debut in James Gunn’s DCEU film, The Suicide Squad (2021). The character will be portrayed by John Cena, who will reprise his role in the HBO Max series.
Other cast members include Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Robert Patrick, Chris Conrad, and Chukwudi Iwuji among many others.
James Gunn will also helm the HBO Max series for its second season.
