AMC’s The Walking Dead: World Beyond Season 2 Episode 5, Quatervois aired on Halloween, and it brought back a familiar face from The Walking Dead season 9.
Jadis has returned to the post-apocalyptic world in a crossover that links The Walking Dead to The Walking Dead: World Beyond. She is reintroduced in the post-credits scene that takes us to the CR Research Facility lab.
Dr. Lyla Belshaw is experimenting under the orders of Lt. Col. Elizabeth Kublek and the CRM. A CRM officer wearing a helmet delivers the new test subject, who’s none other than Sergeant Major Barca himself.
Belshaw sees that he is healthy and not bitten or turned into a zombie. The officer takes off her mask, revealing the face underneath – Jadis. She says,
The Lieutenant Colonel’s been called to the Civic Republic indefinitely. Until further notice, you’ll be answering to me.
Jadis was last seen in season 9 of The Walking Dead when she saved Rick Grimes with the help of a helicopter from the Civic Republic Military.
Rick did not return after that incident either, and there’s no news of him making an appearance in World Beyond.
A day before the episode aired, Annet Mahendru (Jennifer “Huck” Mallick) had shared a selfie with Pollyanna McIntosh, teasing Jadis’ return.
This is the character’s first appearance in the spinoff series, which is already five episodes in. The show was planned for season 2 only from the get-go, so we won’t see much of Janis in the remaining few episodes.
However, as it’s The Walking Dead franchise, anything’s possible. If the character’s been introduced so late in the show, maybe it could potentially build up to another story/spinoff.
