1. Episode 3 Ending Explained: The Hunt for Chao
Things become messy in episode 3 as Jack Ryan (John Krasinski) resigns as CIA’s deputy director after the Triad kills his colleague Miller (Noomi Rapace).
He teams up with Mike November (Michael Kelly) and Domingo Chavez (Michael Peña) to find Chao Fah, the former leader of the Silver Lotus Triad. Jack thinks that he is the key to stopping the catastrophic convergence of the cartel and the Triad.
However, Chao has vanished in thin air. The only person who seems to know about his whereabouts is Chavez’s cousin, Marin.
The episode ends with the three successfully tracking down Marin. They travel to Mexico, where Marin is hiding from the cartel.
Marin reveals that Chao is heading to a private marketplace in Dubrovnik. Chavez also manages to establish a direct connection with Chao’s phone using Marin’s cell.
A burst of gunshots follows the scene, and we see Marin groveling for dear life. The cartel has successfully eliminated him. However, Jack and his two companions manage to run away from the scene.
Elsewhere, James gets a visit from the Walters. The criminal has been stalking James’ family for a long time and threatens him to stop the investigation to expose the CIA’s dirty operations.
2. Episode 4 Ending Explained: A New Clue
Episode 4 continues from where its predecessor ended. Jack, Mike, and Domingo travel to Dubrovnik, hoping to find Chao. They desperately need his help in taking down the Triad.
The trio meets Zubkov, an asset inside a swanky yacht. Zubkov reveals that there is a deal going on between the Triad and the Croatians inside the yacht.
Back in Washington, DC, James turns a deaf year to Walter’s threats and continues his investigation against the scandalous affairs of the CIA. This lands him in deep trouble as Walter stops his car on a bridge and stabs him. In a desperate attempt to save his life, James jumps off the bridge into a river.
James confides in Patrick at Bethesda Hospital about his suspicions of Walter. He thinks that Walters is a former soldier, and Patrick offers to run a DNA test on Walters’ blood to confirm the theory.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth drops by to see James and learns about the connection between Walters and the mysterious device. James thinks they are part of a larger puzzle.
He urges her to help Jack, who is infiltrating the Triad. Elizabeth is reluctant, though, and we see a slight tension developing between the two.
The episode closes with Jack and his allies on a boat, examining the device. Will it explode? What is its connection with the Triad and the cartel?
Finally, Chavez gets a call from Chao, who gives him a coordinate. They have a new clue. This time they can’t afford to relinquish it!
