MGM’s Motion Picture Group president Pamela Abdy shared some exciting news with the James Bond fans in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
Abdy revealed she had had early-stage conversations with franchise producer Barbara Broccoli and both writer/producer Michael G. Wilson about the future of James Bond – whether it’s the storyline, the adventures, or the new actor.
Considering Craig’s last stint as the revered Bond in No Time To Die released just a month ago, Abdy also shared that she wanted him to live to the farewell spotlight.
It’s wide open. We’ve had very early preliminary conversations with Barbara [Broccoli] and Michael [Wilson], but we wanted Daniel to have his last hurrah.

Abdy initially announced the search for the next James Bond star to begin in 2022. After Daniel Craig’s incredible touch to the 007 detective became probably the most-loved detective in the franchise ever, it was assumed that he would soak in all the limelight he could.
It now looks like the team couldn’t wait for the exciting discussion. We can’t blame them either, as many fans have stated their preferences for the next skilled spy – From actors with ripped physiques and incredible acting to leaner, sharper, younger, or even POC stars.
Speculations have been rife about The Witcher’s Henry Cavill, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Tom Hardy, Tom Hiddleston, Rege-Jean Page, and Idris Elba (even though he recently shut down) down the rumors in an MTV interview), among others – for being a suitable choice for the next Bond.
Although, for loyal fans of Craig, it might seem like the next 007 actor discussion might take the limelight away from giving the actor a proper farewell as one of the best James Bond actors.
In other news, things are changing in the Bond’s novels’ universe too. The Testament’s author Kim Sherwood was recently chosen as the next writer to pen a trilogy for the franchise. She will be the first woman in history to write for the James Bond novels.
