The first cour of Re:Zero season 2 is almost at its end, but with more source material at hand, there is sure to be a second part releasing soon.
Too many things happened in the previous episode of Re:Zero, such as Rem’s appearance, Echidna’s true form, and Satella’s arrival.
It seems that Subaru is never going to have a break, as one after another, he’s faced with more trials and betrayals.
However, the question that fans have is how long will this last? Not that unlucky streak, that’s bound to never leave him, but the series as a whole.
Right now there is enough content to cover 25 episodes of Re:Zero season 2, but what happens after that? According to the web and light novel readers, there’s nothing to worry about.
1. Is the Re:Zero Novel Finished?
Re:Zero light novel is not even close to finishing. With volume 24 released in September, according to the author, the series is barely halfway done.
The novel is divided into six arcs, with the 4th arc being the longest one, consisting of 130 chapters excluding the epilogue.
It is this arc that season two of Re:Zero is currently adapting.
It focuses on Subaru and Emilia carrying out the Sanctuary’s Trials to liberate it and save the Demi-Humans trapped by a mysterious barrier.
However, in typical Re:Zero fashion, the journey starts to get complicated as fails to help him this time.
With the release of the latest episode in the anime, the only one who offered help to Subaru, Echidna, revealed her true colors.
As there’s only one episode left before the current season ends, the fans will most probably have to witness one of the worst cliffhangers of all time.
2. Where Can You Read the Re:Zero Light Novel? Is It Worth It?
With an entire year before the release of Re:Zero Season 2 Cour 2, many fans are wondering whether to pick up the light novel, instead of undergoing the torture of not knowing what happens next.
However, with little to no information available on the official translations and reading order, it is difficult to get into them.
Thankfully, this issue is something that can easily be solved due to the passionate fandom of Re:Zero.
On platforms such as Reddit, many users are dedicated to translating entire chapters and even providing shortened summaries of them.
Furthermore, many other unofficial and possibly illegal translations are available through google doc and WordPress blog links.
While these methods are often looked down upon, due to the lack of official content catering to the global audience, one has no choice but to either access it through unofficial channels or stop consuming the content entirely.
However, in order to repair the damage, what one can do is buy the untranslated copies of the light novels to support the author and everyone involved in the series.
In the end, is going through the trouble of finding the translations, using unethical means, and having to wait a long while for further updates worth it?
Definitely yes. To give you a tiny incentive to go ahead with it, let me just add that there is a side story where Subaru runs off with Rem and builds a life with her.
Now that I’ve convinced you to pick up the light novel, where should you start from?
Season two of Re:Zero will conclude the 4th arc, which means that to continue with the events, one will have to start with the 16th volume of the light novel.
Currently, the 6th arc ‘The Corridor of Memories’ is going on where Subaru leads a team to the Pleiades Watchtower to learn how to fix the problems caused during the battle Priestella.
3. Is There Going to Be a Re:Zero Season 3?
Re:Zero will be releasing a new season in the latter half of 2021; however, it will be the second part or cour of season two itself.
Due to the content-rich arc 4 of the light novel called ‘The Everlasting Contract,’ fans were really worried about the entire 130 chapters being covered within 12 episodes of the anime, resulting in horrible pacing and overall injustice done to the original story.
However, thankfully, White Fox has decided to divide the season into two parts and utilize 25 episodes to animate the entire arc, which will be releasing in 2021.
