Lucasfilm’s upcoming Ahsoka series on Disney+ has cast Natasha Liu Bordizzo as the live-action Sabine Wren.
First reported by Deadline, the article also confirmed that the series will be a sequel to the animated series, Star Wars: Rebels.
Star Wars: Ahsoka has already cast Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, following her appearance in The Mandalorian season 2. Dawson’s live-action Ahsoka appeared in the series when Din Djarin reached out to her while trying to find a Jedi to train Grogu.
Ahsoka, who was revealed to be Anakin Skywalker’s Jedi Padawan, was previously seen in Star Wars: Clone Wars and Rebels.
With Bordizzo cast as Wren, fans have been speculating that characters like Anakin Skywalker and Ezra Bridger will be in the sequel as well.
Rebels finale saw Ahsoka set out on a mission with Wren to find Bridger, who disappeared with the Purrgil after defeating Grand Admiral Thrawn. In her appearance in The Mandalorian, her quest to find Ezra is hinted at again.
Plot details of Ahsoka are scarce, but as the show will be a continuation of Rebels and based on her appearance in The Mandalorian, the premise could be about Ahsoka and Wren trying to find Ezra.
The new series is being written by Dave Filoni and executive produced by Filoni and Jon Favreau, continuing Ahsoka’s story.
According to ProductionWeekly, Ahsoka will supposedly start production in March next year, meaning we probably won’t see the duo in action until 2023.
About Star Wars Rebels
Star Wars Rebels is a four-season-long animated TV series animated and produced by Lucasfilm Animation. Rebels aired its first episode on October 14, 2014, and follows the story of rebels who make the rebellion happen against The Empire in the Star Wars Universe.
The plot revolves around a team of Rebels and clearly the most unique team combination we have seen in Star Wars so far. The rebel team is led by Jedi Knight Kenan Jarrus and Hera Syndulla – daughter of Cham Syndulla who once fought the Separatists with Jedi Master Windu during the Clone Wars.
We also have an R2D2-style astromech – Chopper, an ex-Mandalorian – Sabine Wren, and a Lasat – Garazeb Orellios. The team’s rebellion starts escalating quickly when they encounter a strong force-sensitive boy, Ezra Bridger on the planet of Lothal.
