Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 might have Sylvester Stallone’s Stakar Ogord returning. The legendary actor posted videos on his Instagram from the sets of Guardians, leaving many to believe the actor has been filming the third installment.
Stallone shows fans a glimpse of the film’s technology, of how it’s shot, especially the facial expressions. As stated by the actor, the Face duplication equipment records every expression a human being can have and “duplicates” that expression if an actor isn’t around.
The video shows him sitting in a metal-framed dome with multiple square screens attached at small intervals. Another exciting thing that hints at a possible (un)official return is that the actor explicitly states he is on the Guardians set. At the same time, he leaves out which installment, leaving fans to assume it most probably can be the third movie.
Director James Gunn announced the start of filming on November 8, and a few days later, Stallone uploads videos from “a” Guardians set? Coincidence? We think not.
Stallone plays the leader of the Ravagers, Captain Stakar Ogord, aka Starhawk, in the Guardians universe. Fans were introduced to him in the sequel, and rumors have been rife about the actor’s return to the role in James Gunn’s last Guardians movie in 2023. It looks like Stallone has accidentally slipped up a significant detail.
Gunn and Stallone also recently worked on DC’s highly-praised The Suicide Squad (which the director teased a cameo in Guardians 3).
While Starhawk didn’t have much screen time in Guardians 2, fans can expect a meatier role in the Guardians 3. The former’s post-credit scenes also hinted at Starhawk’s return. It showed him assembling his team of Guardians, confirming the OG Guardians team from the MCU.
With such a heavy tease, fans will be disappointed if Starhawk doesn’t appear in Guardians 3. But the vague dialogue is what keeps them, and us, going.
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is expected to be released on May 23, 2023.
