There are very few who do not know the anti-social, green ogre Shrek. Ever since he arrived on the screens in 2001, people have enjoyed all of Shrek’s adventures (well, almost all of them)- the Shrek franchise is every animated movie fans’ dream! The first film is not only considered to be pathbreaking in terms of animation but its lovable characters, good-humored story (that both kids and adults can enjoy), and awesome soundtrack brought a newer edge to the world of animation.
When Shrek 2 was released a year later, the franchise had cemented its position in animated movie heaven. While the next two movies did not have the same magic as Shrek and Shrek 2, nothing could take away from the popularity of the franchise.
Naturally, when the world was devastated by the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, everyone turned to the green ogre to spread some cheer. But is Shrek available to be streamed on Netflix?
1. Is Shrek on Netflix?
Unfortunately, none of the films from the Shrek franchise are available on America’s most popular streaming service.
Shrek was on Netflix- until April 2020. In the middle of March, Netflix announced through a Facebook post that Shrek, Shrek 2, Shrek The Third and Shrek Forever After, would be leaving Netflix on April 11th.
The post was met with hundreds of shocked reactions, some of them were nothing short of angry.
One user summed up all our feelings and said: “Very disappointed netflix. Shrek is a lifestyle and our birth right. You taking this away from us is like ripping our own child from our arms and taking them away. If you think you will be forgiven, you are sorely mistaken, sir!”
2. Where to Stream Shrek?
If you have a Disney+ subscription, you are lucky, Shrek is at your fingertips. All four of the Shrek movies have moved to Disney+ since April.
If you do not have Disney+, the first movie is available on Hulu. The rest can be streamed on TV Vision.
It seems like streaming platforms are not the saviors we thought them to be! Boy, do we miss the DVD store days!
About Shrek
