Is Shiv Roy Really Pregnant in Succession?

The Roy family is facing a mystery bombshell in season 4, as it appears that Shiv Roy has a baby on the way. 

Succession season 4 has already been eventful, with the episodes featuring major business transactions, new disputes among the Roy family, and even the death of Logan Roy. 

However, episode 4 has shown that things are only going to get more chaotic, as it almost confirms that Shiv Roy is actually expecting.

Season 4 is the final season of HBO’s popular comedy-drama, centering on the Roy family and their ownership of Waystar Royco. The third episode changed everything when it showed that Logan Roy, the main villain of the series, had suddenly died while on a plane. 

Now that the leader of Waystar Royco is gone, things are getting more intense, with tensions rising higher than ever. 

Shiv’s possible pregnancy could have a big impact on season 4 and could alter the course of Succession forever.

The show has dropped several hints that Shiv Roy is expecting, with things becoming more evident as the season progresses. 

The first of these is Shiv’s reduced alcohol intake. Shiv has been drinking much less than she did in previous seasons of Succession, with her even ordering a club soda in episode 2 while at a bar with her siblings. 

Moreover, Shiv Roy actress Sarah Snook is pregnant in real life, leading viewers to speculate that this may be incorporated into the show.

While the pregnancy has been just a theory so far, Succession season 4, episode 4 almost verifies it. 

At the start of the episode, Shiv gets a call from her doctor, with the doctor listing several signs of pregnancy as well as telling Shiv to book a 20-week checkup. 

Later in the episode, Shiv talks to Tom about Logan’s grandkids, implying that more grandkids may be on the way. Shiv even suddenly collapses near the end of episode 4, possibly due to the nausea and dizziness that often comes as a result of pregnancy.

This pregnancy plot may seem unexpected, but it is actually the perfect way to conclude Succession. 

Having Shiv become a mother in the same season that Logan passed away is a very smart way of wrapping things up, showing the circular harm that the Roy family has suffered from. 

It would also add another layer of feeling to Shiv’s character, adding to the pressure that comes with her role at Waystar after the death of her father.

Shiv’s pregnancy could also further explore her relationship with Tom – something that has been shaky since Tom’s treachery in the season 3 finale. The idea of Shiv becoming a mother would affect Tom, possibly drawing him away from his wicked path. 

Also, is the baby Tom’s? We still don’t know who’s the father of the baby. Shiv’s open marriage from the very beginning does bring many unanswered questions on the plate for sure.

This pregnancy would alter everything in Succession season 4, adding a harmless new-born to the harsh and ruthless world of the Roys.
