Regé-Jean Page, aka Duke of Hastings from Bridgerton, aka the one currently ruling everyone’s hearts, has directly addressed the Bond rumors on the internet. In an interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, the actor replied to the fans’ passionate campaigning for him to be considered as the next 007.
For a long time, the public has wished for the role of Bond to be played by a person of color, and some have even asked for a female incarnation of the superspy. Ever since he played the stoic and cynical Simon Hastings in Bridgerton, fans have pushed for Page to become one of the serious candidates for the next Bond. His stint as the Duke has shown that he can perfectly portray a character shaped by trauma and someone to whom duty comes before emotion.
When asked what he thought about these rumors, Page replied-
“If you’re a Brit and you do something of any regard that people renown well, people are going to start saying the ‘B word’. I’m very glad to have the badge, I’m very glad to be in the company of such people who have the badge, but it’s just a badge.”
