Since its release in February 2023, Hogwarts Legacy, an RPG created by Warner Bros. Games and Wizarding World, has taken the world by storm. The game, set in 1890, brings forth a new “Chosen One,” who is the only one who can harness the Ancient Magic and change the fate of the wizarding world.
The game introduced several background characters you can interact with, including students and professors. The fifth years have several subjects like Potions, Divination, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Charms, Herbology, Ancient Runes, and more. A different professor handles each subject, thus keeping many options open, but the MC is closest to Professor Fig.
Since the game’s announcement and slow reveals of other essential characters, Warner Bros Games introduced Professor Fig as one of the major allies of the MC in the RPG. Professor Fig taught Magical Theory in the late 19th century, but his backstory connected him to the MC.
Eleazar Fig was a model employee at the Ministry of Magic but quit his job to follow his wife Miriam in her worldly search for the fading ancient magic. But he grew weary, left her to her travels, and sought a job in Hogwarts – but after Miriam’s death, he felt responsible for it and promised to finish her work and uncover the secrets of the ancient magic. As the MC is susceptible to ancient magic and a key for Fig to complete his work, the Magical Theory professor works closely with you throughout the game.
But is there a plot twist? Will Professor Fig betray the MC and turn out to be another antagonist working alongside the villain of Hogwarts Legacy?
Well, you can drop your guard near the enigmatic professor because he is, first and foremost, your mentor and will be on your side till the end of the game, no matter the ending. Eleazar Fig is in your corner and your strongest ally against Ranrok, and he does not deter from the good side throughout the gameplay.
In fact, Fig is the only one who’ll stand beside you against Ranrok in the final battle after the key to the ancient magic opens a choice for you, leaving the fate of the wizarding world and the future of magic in your hands. Despite whichever ending you end up with based on your choices in the RPG, Fig will remain the good mentor and not turn into a traitor.
But alas, Fig’s story in the wizarding world history comes to an end in Hogwarts Legacy itself. If you’ve chosen the “good” ending, you know that in the final battle against Ranrok, Fig tries hard to beat the goblin. But after battling the vicious goblin’s strong spells for long, his strength gives away, and he dies after parting with the MC with a sweet goodbye.
In the bad ending, we don’t clearly see how the professor meets his death. But the official conclusion for the game includes Headmaster Black and Professor Weasley honoring the teacher’s feats after his passing away.
So there you have it! Professor Fig never was or will be a villain in the Wizarding World history and will go down as one of the few who was powerful enough to duel Ranrok and prevent an early start for the Goblin Rebellion.
To discover the multiple endings, create stronger bonds at Hogwarts, and live the magical life, keep playing Hogwarts Legacy or wait until you get your hands on it!
