Filming for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is back on track and a new set photo confirms what fans had been speculating for long – The Submariner coming to MCU.
The snap seems to be taken during the filming of an underwater scene in a water tank, and it would be a safe bet to assume it involves Namor and the Atlantean warriors.
Details about the Black Panther sequel have been kept under wraps. However, one of the most prominent rumors has been about Atlantis and Namor’s appearance.
A Twitter account dedicated to updates on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever shared the behind-the-scenes photo with the water tank surrounded by a blue screen.
Narcos Mexico actor Tenoch Huerta has reportedly been linked to the role of Namor. The Submariner’s introduction could mean trouble as leaks about the story hint at a war between the forces of Atlantis and Wakanda. The two kingdoms also have their differences in the comics.
Namor’s appearance can also mean that the anti-hero will be introduced briefly to set up his role and Atlantis for future projects.
Other rumors suggest that the MCU will honor the late Chadwick Boseman with this sequel, including carrying on the legacy of T’Challa by giving him an heir/son with Nakia.
It is worth noting that Shuri probably will be the next Black Panther, similar to the comics.
However, if the film is setting up new characters for the future of MCU, T’Challa and Nakia’s son might be introduced before his possible recruit to the Young Avengers, just like Dominique Thorne’s entry as Ironheart.
After numerous delays resulting in production halts, including Letitia Wright’s injury, filming for the sequel has resumed again, and it is unlikely that the release date will shift from its scheduled date.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to hit theaters on November 11, 2022.
