A guarantee of seeing Loki in another season rolled in during the show’s post-credits scenes. But it is always reassuring to hear Marvel creative head Kevin Feige back it up with a tiny bit of info.
Speaking to Collider during a day press conference for the newly released Shang-Chi, Feige said that the development of the show is ongoing with beloved Tom Hiddleston back as the Trickster. Sadly, Kate Herron won’t be returning to direct, but as they say, the show must go on.
It is underway. We’re developing it as we speak. The hope is that much of the same team will return. Kate is going on to bigger and better things, so the director search will begin shortly.

It will be part of Marvel’s Phase 4/5 but the head himself is not sure when the cameras will finally get rolling for the second season — it could be anytime in 2022 or 2023. As it is, Marvel has quite a few titles already lined up, the narratives of many which may have a direct influence on Loki’s storyline.
After the first season’s spectacle of an ending that left us with more questions than anything, your guess is as good as mine about where season two will pick up. The possibilities are: a moment after the first season cuts away, or after the events of Doctor Strange 2, or now that we have all of time and space at our fingers times, the sky is the limit for grand Season 2 openings.
The most fascinating aspect of Loki is how its fate was never set in stone. Much like the existential series teases (and taking a page out of What If…?), one decision can change it all. Loki was never meant to go beyond one season. But a change of heart during production led to some tweaks in the final episode.
And the rest is history, as they say. (Or is the future… hmm, we’ll have to check the Scared Timeline to tell).
Although Feige’s confirmation comes as a positive, Loki may not return to Disney+ until late 2023. Don’t worry, MCU has plenty to keep us entertained till then.
