The journey of anime’s most hilarious party ended as the 17th volume was released back in 2020. However, there are still plenty of things to look forward to, as we have a lot of manga material left.
Konosuba has two new sequels for now; the spin-off series titled “KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World!” has aired from April to June 2023, and to make matters more exciting, Season 3 is confirmed to air in 2024.
I can’t wait to watch Season 3, and seeing all four of them interact humorously as they embark on yet another absurd quest has me eagerly anticipating the next hilarious escapade.
1. Has Konosuba Finished?
KonoSuba – God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! has finished and concluded with its 17th and final volume. It’s a Popular isekai series, and fans were not ready to adventure come to an end.
Initially, fans were quite distraught by Kososuba’s ending.
The Twitter user @bringbackdabing perfectly sums up our feelings by posting,
“The Light Novel of Konosuba is ending soon, dammit!! It’s sooo good and Volume 15 was one of the best ones by far.
The character development and call backs were amazing. I’m going to be super depressed when this all ends. Why must it be all the things I love end.”

Another Twitter user @KCB_Bryan expresses his disappointment through his tweet,
“Now the main series novel for Konosuba is ending… April can go straight to hell. 2020 can skip on ahead to 2021.”
Don’t be dejected since there is plenty of material left, we still have room for season 3 and a couple of spin-off series, which I will be discussing.
2. About Konosuba Season 3 and the Spin-off series
Season 3 for Konosuba has been confirmed to be released in 2024. Since the previous seasons came out in January, season 3 will be out in January too.
For further updates, check this out:
Along with that, the cherry on the top is the Spin-off series “KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World!” which aired from April to June 2023.
It revolves around Megumin and her friend Yunyun as students at the Magic Academy in her hometown, the Crimson Demon Village. It’s a tale about how she earned the ultimate offensive magic: Explosion magic.
Studio Deen produced the initial two seasons of KonoSuba. For the upcoming third season, Studio Drive, the same studio responsible for the spin-off series, will be in charge of the production.
The new season will be directed by Yujiro ABE and Kanasaki Takaomi.
In addition, you can engage yourself with the final ending and the epilogue of Konosuba, there is a sweet story attached.
On top of that, the author of the series has implied that there will be some more after-stories coming out about Kazuma, his adventures, and romance.
If that’s not enough to tame your horses, KonoSuba has two anime seasons right now, one movie, and two OVAs.
3. How did Konosuba end?
After the duel with the Demon King, as a reward, he offers his name – Kouichi Sakaguchi, and promises to tell Kazuma the secret behind his name if he succeeds in beating him.
Just then, Kazuma notices something on his adventure card. He sees his last manatite and creates an explosion using it.
Due to this, Kazuma then arrives in Heaven, where Aqua is present. While sobbing, she gives him three choices: be reborn here, in Japan, or go to Heaven. After that, Eris gives him another two options as a reward for killing the Demon King.
- He can go to Japan with a lot of money and “his ideal partner.”
- He can go back to the current world as he is.
Kazuma then asks for the cheat he was always supposed to have and questions whether a goddess counts as a cheat. However, later he and Eris go to the world, leaving Aqua alone.
The epilogue is from Eris’s point of view as we see Kazuma is back in Heaven. Here, Kazuma gives an update on others.
Megumin is going somewhere with Yunyun to do her explosion for the day. Darkness has got a province and is getting a bunch of suitors.
After this, Kazuma is seen grumbling as a result of getting kicked out of the house. Eris consoles him and says he can wait while Aqua revives him.
Except, the plot twist is that Kazuma hasn’t died. He actually recorded Heaven as a teleport location. That’s how he was going to get Aqua back. On his way out, Eris gives him another Blessing. This is how the story ends.
4. Was the ending satisfactory?
Konosuba’s ending was quite satisfactory despite the loose ends and lack of closure in Kazuma’s relationships with others. The series ends in true Konosuba fashion, with plenty of emotions, pranks, and laughter.
The light novel starts with Kazuma and Aqua, so it is only appropriate to end the volume with them. Due to this, the story is well-fleshed out and ends on a perfect note.
However, fans of the series were disappointed with the lack of closure regarding Kazuma’s relationships with other characters.
Regarding the romance factor of the series, the author probably wants to flesh out Kazuma’s relationship in the after-story, which he has provided at the end.
He had saved the romance for a sequel so that Kazuma could learn the meaning behind love and hopefully become a strong-willed and dedicated person.
While Kazuma does not date anyone, as the author ends the story openly, the short story succeeding finally gives the fans a concrete answer.
5. Whom does Kazuma end up with?
As promised, the author published a spin-off where Kazuma ends up with Megumin after the end of volume 17 and enters into a relationship with her.
As for why the Konosuba novel ended in such a manner is because the author was probably trying to save the romance aspect for that short story so that Kazuma could have some time to learn the meaning behind love and become a strong-willed and dedicated person after all, Megumin deserves the very best.
6. About Konosuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!
Konosuba is a light novel series written by Natsume Akatsuki and illustrated by Kurone Mishima. There are a total of 17 volumes of the main light novel series, 5 of which have been adapted in the form of anime.
After dying a laughable and pathetic death on his way back from buying a game, a high school student and recluse Kazuma Satou finds himself sitting before a beautiful but obnoxious goddess named Aqua.
She provides the NEET with two options: continue to heaven or reincarnate in every gamer’s dream—a real fantasy world!
Choosing to start a new life, Kazuma is quickly tasked with defeating a Demon King who is terrorizing villages. But before he goes, he can choose one item of any kind to aid him in his quest, and the future hero selects Aqua. But Kazuma has made a grave mistake—Aqua is completely useless!
Unfortunately, their troubles don’t end here; it turns out that living in such a world is far different from how it plays out in a game. Instead of going on a thrilling adventure, the duo must first work to pay for their living expenses. Indeed, their misfortunes have only just begun!
