Is Jujutsu Kaisen Confirmed to End in 5 Chapters? – What to Expect?

Jujutsu Kaisen is the moneymaker of the WSJ (Weekly Shonen Jump) and is now set to end. With an official announcement from Gege Akutami himself, we have no reason to believe otherwise. Although it makes us sigh at the misfortune, what does JJK’s ending soon indicate?

The series, both manga and anime, has gained a massive following across the world, across language barriers and even with people who do not watch anime. The climax is going to be the end of the Yuji Sukuna battle.

1. Is Jujutsu Kaisen really ending soon?

The final OP fight has just begun in Chapter 266, with Megumi and Yuji teaming up to knock some sense into the murderous King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna. But just as we were hyped up, the news that Jujutsu Kaisen was about to end surfaced.

This is no fake news or guesswork of amateur sleuths. This is as legit as can be with Gege himself revealing this to us. The famous author said, “The story will end in five more episodes. I am only able to end the story in the way I wanted. Thanks to the support and cooperation of all my readers. Thank You,”

The manga will conclude with final Chapter 271, set to be included in the 44th issue of Shonen Jump magazine on September 30, 2024 (That is a lot of waiting, so it better be good…). Gege continued, “I am working hard to create a final episode that will probably satisfy as many people as possible who have supported ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’. So, everyone please bear with me.”

So, within a few weeks, we will know the result of the decisive battle between Ryomen Sukuna and Yuji Itadori. But the question arises that whether Gege can wrap up and tie up all the loose ends. We can only hope for the best!

2. What can we expect from the end of JJK?

With a definite D-Day ahead of us, the questions that have haunted us readers (and continue to do) might not all be answered in just 5 chapters. The character development that is the long-standing trend for the WSJ magazine series might not be available to us regarding JJK.

The most major character development (and interactions were between Yuji and Sukuna and then with Megumi), since Yuji spoke the words of grit and conviction – “Sukuna, I can kill you” at the end of 265, we can assume that Sukuna has only a little fight left in him.

But what about Gojo?
But what about Gojo? | Source: Anime

The most important itch that we can’t scratch is Gojo Satoru’s situation. Gojo is probably the most charismatic and interesting character in the whole series. But his situation, as of now at 266, remains uncertain. Seeing as we only have a few chapters left in the manga. Unfortunately, it does look like Gojo won’t be returning.

The mention of Gojo came in Chapter 266, where Sukuna had difficulty using Hollow Wicker Basket due to the lingering after-effects of Gojo’s domain. This is likely to be the last mention of Gojo in the series. Though it will break the hearts of millions of otakus across the world.

The Final Showdown

Why? Because of the final battle between Yuji and Sukuna. This fight has been hyped up across the entirety of the series and will be the climax of the manga. It will take up a huge amount of panels in the remaining 5 chapters (it will be a huge disappointment and a let-down otherwise).

Since that is the case, there will be many characters left without a proper ending and many interactions left incomplete, not to mention the characters who were left halfway (and, let’s be honest, forgotten). So, expecting Jujutsu Kaisen to have the perfect ending will be a pipe dream.

Be that as it may, Jujutsu Kaisen has rewritten history and will leave its legacy for years. There will be much more manga and anime based on it (and fan fiction, of course). Like other great works – Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, and other serialized Shonen manga, it has earned its position amongst one of the best.
